Who We Are
International Development Insights or ‘idi’ is a ‘Proudly Zimbabwean’ recruitment service for Zimbabwean development and humanitarian practitioners and consultants. At present there are no recruitment and consultancy services, rosters or databases that focus solely on development and humanitarian consultancy and staffing in Zimbabwe.
Why We Exist
In a time when donor funding has significantly declined, due to external forces and perceived priorities elsewhere, and the cost of consultants is high, it makes sense to draw on local expertise to reduce costs and maximise value for money. There are so many talented consultants, development, peace, and humanitarian practitioners in Zimbabwe that understand the country context in which they operate and are sensitive to the multi-layered issues that exist.
Why Local Works Best
It is often seen that interventions that have been remarkably successful in other countries, do not necessarily work in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has a history spanning decades that has involved social, economic, and political upheaval and it is vital to understand this historical context and navigate these often-unseen issues in order to ensure programme success and impact. Likewise, Zimbabwean consultants are able to see the bigger picture, can situate findings within this lived historical context, and come up with nuanced and insightful findings and recommendations.
How it Works
Signing up to the database is free for all Zimbabweans involved in development, humanitarian, peace, and consultancy work.
Different packages are available for organisations seeking short term consultants or longer-term humanitarian and development candidates. These organisations include Donors, the United Nations, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). These organisations can contact idi using the ‘Client Contact’ page or by directly by email. Clients can specify the type of consultant or longer-term practitioners and idi’s AI will scan its database looking for best matches that meet the client requirements. Because idi speaks the ‘language of development’, unlike traditional recruitment firms, there is a much higher chance that we will be able to find you the best candidate for the job at hand. idi can be trusted to meet clients hiring needs.
